Galactic Destiny is a strategy board game not unlike others made popular in recent years. However, the emphasis of Galactic Destiny is on the political struggle between the six ruling ideologies of the universe.
Each player represents a Party. Every Party has members from all races of the Republic; the goal of the game is to sway the galaxy to your views. The main way to do this is by winning all the Ministerial seats in the Election. Another way is by brute, military force.
|
Six Party cards outline the Turn Sequence, Prosecution process (for corrupt Senators who deserve fines or execution), and tracks for Influence points and Money. There is also a description of the Party's ideology. |
 |
But as the players race to gain sway and dominate the minds of the voters, the Infesting demons, the Ke'Ras work their subtle evils to possess the souls of every being in the Republic. You must win against each other, but also against evil itself.
The classic black box of Galactic Destiny contains four 50 card decks.
 |
The Sector cards describe the planets in each political arena, the races that naturally dominate and the ideologies that hold sway. Using these natural tendencies in the strategy war and politics is important. |
|
The Event cards contain very little repetition, and so with each turn three unique events make the game play changeable and filled with surprises. Who has the advantage can change at any moment.

The Senator deck shows the wonderful illustrations of Marcel Chenier (www.marcelchenier.com).
The six dominant races of the Galaxy - the Ajira, Humans,
Jur, Qera,
Shorem and Tumba - have a wide variety of strengths, from the newly elected politician to the long-lived immortals of galactic fame. Special abilities, political tendencies and racial benefits encourage strategic choosing in Senator recruitment, as well as trading with other players' Parties. |
|
Action cards feature the many choices a player can make to gain advantage, facilitate combat or undermine his or her enemy. We did our best to include Actions that are fun and significant to maintaining a fast-paced strategy game. |

70 ships in three unique designs represent the main war ships used by the Republic fleets. Each ship model is in the six colours of the Parties, and a seventh colour to represent the Republic fleet which is at the command of the Senate's vote, or can be used corruptly by the player whose Senator holds Minister of Defence.
There are 158 cardboard tokens. These display Party logos to show Sector ownership, when your Party wins one of the sixty Sectors of the galaxy.
Election/Infestation tokens have the Official Seal of the Galactic Republic on one side and the demonic Ke'Ras claw to represent Infestations on the other. At the beginning of each round three are placed randomly on the board. Then, with a roll of the dice and depending on how many Corruption and/or Shadow tokens are currently placed on Parties' Senators, the three Sectors will become open for political Campaigns or Infested by the demons who possess the souls of the planets' inhabitants.
Corruption/Shadow tokens have a black and white claw on one side and a full colour one on the reverse. The b/w claw is placed on Senators when their controlling player willingly acts Corruptly - cheats, Invades, breaks a deal, assassinates, or falls prey to other immoral impulses. Corruption subtracts from the Senator's Diplomacy rating. When a certain amount of Corruption is gained the Corruption tokens become Shadow tokens (get flipped over). Shadow increases the chance of a Senator dying or being executed, but also adds 1 die to all actions for every Shadow token he has.
Senators are crucial to the game. Every political Campaign in a Sector of space
requires an action from a Senator. Prior to this, of course, players may choose
to Invade Sectors with fleets. This is always illegal (gains the Senator Corruption) as it involves massacring the population; however, it is easier and faster than political Campaigns, for it does not require the action of a Senator.
A central part of Galactic Destiny is the fact political Campaigns, as they occur after Invasions, can overrule the military event. Political action always trumps military in Galactic Destiny.
While the first player to control ten Sectors wins the game, the more skilful and necessarily subtle approach is to win by sweeping the five Minister positions in the Election that occurs every four turns
And, last but not least.
Why Our Game Is Awesome!
Galactic Destiny has more player interaction, potential to make
deals, break deals, team-up, back stab and conspire than any other board game ever.
The twists and turns of luck and opportunity keep you on the edge of your seat,
cola can trembling in your hand, as you wait to see if this is your chance to make
your play for the galaxy.
Evil actions and good deeds play a paramount role in Galactic Destiny;
whether you seek Enlightenment or Shadow directly impacts what will be your Party's
fate or fortune…in short, your destiny.
